Back into it

I had a surprise email last weekend asking me to take over for a week in a small law firm downtown. There are normally 4 people there: lawyer, associate attorney, paralegal and legal assistant. All three of the staff were scheduled to be out, with only the attorney remaining. This is a really scary proposition, because typically the attorney is so busy he doesn’t have any idea about the every day running of the firm. But I needed the money, and Charlotte was okay losing me for a week, so I took the job, hoping we could work it out together. Thankfully, the paralegal was able to come on after all; her mother’s emergency surgery did not happen. So it was a great week, getting back into working after almost two years retired. And the view was fantastic from the 23rd floor of a downtown Portland building.

The week worked out really well, and I expect to be back into Charles and Karilyn’s work lives on a semi regular basis, but I finished the week completely exhausted.  And I missed my Logan terribly.
